Arlington Texas Business Guide

There are numerous high-tech industries within the state of Texas, with many being situated in the Austin area (called "Silicon Hills") and the north Dallas area ("Silicon Prairie"). Also, there are many high technology businesses situated in Texas: Dell, Inc., Texas Instruments, Perot Systems, AT&T and the biggest campus of Hewlett-Packard.

Arlington

Arlington is a city in Tarrant County, with an approximate population of approximately 365,000 people, making it the 7th biggest city within the state of Texas, and the third largest within the Dallas Metroplex. Arlington is the biggest city within the state of Texas that is not a county seat. The city of Arlington is bordered by several cities, including Mansfield, Kennedale and Grand Prairie. The city of Forth Worth is located approximately twelve miles west of the city and the city of Dallas is located roughly twenty miles east.

Arlington City is home to a variety of popular facilities, like for instance The Texas Rangers' Ballpark in Arlington, the University of Texas at Arlington, the International Bowling Campus, Cowboys Stadium, the headquarters of American Mensa, International Bowling Museum, the waterpark Hurricane Harbor and the theme parks Six Flags over Texas. It is also the head office of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region IV.

Even if most of Arlington City is situated in Tarrant County, a tiny portion of it extends into Dallas County. As such, Arlington City is served by two county court systems.

The city was first founded along the Texas and Pacific Railway in the year 1876 and was named after the Arlington House of General Robert E. Lee. It was incorporated during 1884. By the year 1910, the city had water, electricity, telephone and natural gas services along with a public school system. Previous to World War II, the population grew to over four thousand.
